Privacy Notice for the Olafun Website
This notice says what personal information the Olafun website collects about you, what it does with it, how long it keeps it and how you can ask to see, correct or delete what it holds. It covers visitors to this site and anyone who sends a message from it.
The site gathers only what it needs to answer you and to keep its pages working. It does not sell or rent your details to anybody.
What you send us when you get in touch
When you fill in the form on the site, we receive whatever you type into it: usually your name, an e-mail address or a telephone number, and the text of your message. Each of those comes from you, and the site asks for them only so that somebody can reply.
If you write to us directly instead, we get your e-mail address and your message in the same way. Nothing here is collected by an advertising service on our behalf, and sending a form does not put you on a mailing list.
What the site records as you browse
Like any ordinary website, this one keeps a record of visits. That is the page you asked for, the page you came from, the type of browser and device you used, and the address your connection came from. We look at it as counts rather than as people: how many read a page, which pages nobody opens.
The site also sets a small text file in your browser, a cookie. The ones we use hold no name and no address of yours. They remember simple things, such as whether you have already seen a notice, so the page does not ask you twice.
Why we use your information
There are three uses and no others. Your message and your contact details are used to answer you. The visit record is used to keep the site working and to see which pages are worth writing more for. And where you have asked to be contacted, your details are used to contact you and for nothing beside.
We do not build a profile of you, we do not decide anything about you by machine alone, and we do not send your details to an advertising network to follow you around other sites.
Who sees it and how long we keep it
Inside the site, your message is read by whoever answers it. Outside, it passes through the services that host the site and deliver its mail, and those services store it while doing that job. We pass information to anyone else only when the law asks us to.
A message and its details are kept while the matter it raises is open and for a little while afterwards, so that a follow-up question does not have to start from nothing. Visit records are kept for a short period and then read only as totals. Once you ask us to delete your message, we delete it, apart from whatever a record of the exchange has to be kept for.
Your rights and how to reach us
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for anything wrong to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You can also ask us to stop using your details for contact. These requests cost nothing, and we may ask one question back to be sure the details are yours before we answer it.
